Limit time spent on Dailymotion using your phone settings (iPhone & Android)
Overview
Dailymotion does not currently offer an in‑app setting to limit usage time or block access during certain hours. However, most smartphones include built‑in tools that let you:
- set a daily time limit for Dailymotion, and/or
- define hours when the app can’t be used (for example at night or during school time).
Below are the steps for iPhone/iPad (Apple Screen Time) and Android (Digital Wellbeing or Google Family Link).
iPhone / iPad (Apple) — Screen Time
1) Set a daily time limit for Dailymotion
- Open Settings
- Tap Screen Time
- Tap App Limits
- Tap Add Limit
- Find and select Dailymotion
- Tap Next
- Choose a daily time limit (for example 30 minutes)
- Tap Add
What happens next: once the daily limit is reached, Dailymotion will be blocked and a message will appear on the screen.
2) Block Dailymotion during certain hours (Downtime)
“Downtime” can block apps during the hours you choose.
- Open Settings
- Tap Screen Time
- Tap Downtime
- Turn Downtime ON
- Choose the Start and End time (for example 20:00 to 07:00)
To ensure Dailymotion is blocked during Downtime:
- Go back to Screen Time
- Tap Always Allowed
- Make sure Dailymotion is not in the allowed apps list
3) Recommended for parents: prevent changes with a Screen Time passcode
- Open Settings → Screen Time
- Tap Use Screen Time Passcode
- Create a passcode only the parent knows
Android — Digital Wellbeing (built-in on many devices)
Android menus can vary slightly depending on the phone brand and Android version, but the options below are commonly available.
1) Set a daily time limit (App timer)
- Open Settings
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls
- Tap Dashboard (or App timers)
- Find Dailymotion
- Tap Set timer
- Choose the daily time limit (for example 30 minutes)
What happens next: when the timer ends, Dailymotion will pause/block until the next day (or until a parent changes the limit).
2) Block Dailymotion during certain hours (Focus mode or Bedtime mode)
Depending on your device, you may see:
- Focus mode (blocks selected apps while enabled or scheduled), and/or
- Bedtime mode (reduces distractions and can restrict apps at night).
Typical steps:
- Open Settings → Digital Wellbeing
- Tap Focus mode or Bedtime mode
- Set a schedule (hours)
- Select Dailymotion as an app to restrict
Android (recommended for families) — Google Family Link
If a parent manages a child’s device, Google Family Link is often the easiest option.
1) Set a daily limit for Dailymotion (from the parent’s phone)
- Install Google Family Link on the parent’s phone
- Set up the child’s Google account and device supervision
- In Family Link, open the child’s profile
- Go to App limits
- Select Dailymotion
- Set the daily time limit
2) Set blocked hours (e.g., bedtime)
- In Family Link, open the child’s profile
- Go to Daily limits / Bedtime (naming may vary)
- Choose the hours when the device/apps are not allowed
Note
These features are provided by Apple or Google/Android and may differ slightly depending on your device model and software version.
