Limit time spent on Dailymotion using your phone settings (iPhone & Android)

Overview

Dailymotion does not currently offer an in‑app setting to limit usage time or block access during certain hours. However, most smartphones include built‑in tools that let you:

Below are the steps for iPhone/iPad (Apple Screen Time) and Android (Digital Wellbeing or Google Family Link).

iPhone / iPad (Apple) — Screen Time

1) Set a daily time limit for Dailymotion

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Screen Time
  3. Tap App Limits
  4. Tap Add Limit
  5. Find and select Dailymotion
  6. Tap Next
  7. Choose a daily time limit (for example 30 minutes)
  8. Tap Add

What happens next: once the daily limit is reached, Dailymotion will be blocked and a message will appear on the screen.

2) Block Dailymotion during certain hours (Downtime)

“Downtime” can block apps during the hours you choose.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Screen Time
  3. Tap Downtime
  4. Turn Downtime ON
  5. Choose the Start and End time (for example 20:00 to 07:00)

To ensure Dailymotion is blocked during Downtime:

  1. Go back to Screen Time
  2. Tap Always Allowed
  3. Make sure Dailymotion is not in the allowed apps list

3) Recommended for parents: prevent changes with a Screen Time passcode

  1. Open Settings → Screen Time
  2. Tap Use Screen Time Passcode
  3. Create a passcode only the parent knows

Android — Digital Wellbeing (built-in on many devices)

Android menus can vary slightly depending on the phone brand and Android version, but the options below are commonly available.

1) Set a daily time limit (App timer)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls
  3. Tap Dashboard (or App timers)
  4. Find Dailymotion
  5. Tap Set timer
  6. Choose the daily time limit (for example 30 minutes)

What happens next: when the timer ends, Dailymotion will pause/block until the next day (or until a parent changes the limit).

2) Block Dailymotion during certain hours (Focus mode or Bedtime mode)

Depending on your device, you may see:

  1. Open Settings → Digital Wellbeing
  2. Tap Focus mode or Bedtime mode
  3. Set a schedule (hours)
  4. Select Dailymotion as an app to restrict

Android (recommended for families) — Google Family Link

If a parent manages a child’s device, Google Family Link is often the easiest option.

1) Set a daily limit for Dailymotion (from the parent’s phone)

  1. Install Google Family Link on the parent’s phone
  2. Set up the child’s Google account and device supervision
  3. In Family Link, open the child’s profile
  4. Go to App limits
  5. Select Dailymotion
  6. Set the daily time limit

2) Set blocked hours (e.g., bedtime)

  1. In Family Link, open the child’s profile
  2. Go to Daily limits / Bedtime (naming may vary)
  3. Choose the hours when the device/apps are not allowed
